Melanie Stander MD, MBBCh, MMedEM

Dr. Melanie Stander was in the first group of Emergency Medicine physicians that qualified in South Africa in 2007. She is currently the Emergency Medicine Manager for Mediclinic Southern Africa, one of the largest private hospital groups in the country. She is the immediate past President of the Emergency Medicine Society of South Africa. She is secretary of the International Federation for Emergency Medicine and chair of the Gender-Specific Issues SIG for IFEM. She is vice-chair of the IFEM Clinical Practice Committee and is a member of the IFEM Triage SIG. Her interest and expertise are in point of care ultrasound, emergency medicine systems development and design, leadership, and emergency medicine advocacy.
