Mehmet Fatih Can graduated from the Gulhane Military Medical Academy, Department of General Surgery, as a General Surgery Specialist in 2006, after receiving the title of Medical Doctor from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine.
He performed surgeries in his field, conducted scientific studies and published them, and held administrative duties at the Ardahan Military Hospital, where he went to serve on the continent. During this time, he worked in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a while. M. Fatih Can became a faculty member with the title of Assistant Professor at the General Surgery Department of the Gülhane Military Medical Academy in June 2009. He carried out professional development and clinical research activities on laparoscopic - robotic liver, pancreas, and gastrointestinal system surgery and liver transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (Pittsburgh), BIDMC Harvard Medical School (Boston) in the USA, and ASAN Medical Center University of Ulsan College of Medicine (Seoul) in South Korea for a total of 15 months in 2011 and 2012.
He received the title of Associate Professor at the University in December 2012 and continued his duty at the Gastroenterological Surgery Unit of the General Surgery Department of the Gulhane Military Medical Academy. As of the beginning of 2019, he left his duty at Health Sciences University Gülhane Faculty of Medicine. He was promoted to Professor in May 2019 and worked at Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine and Lokman Hekim Akay Hospital between 2019-2021. He still accepts his patients in his private clinic in the Çankaya Sogutozu district. He is a member of the Turkish Surgical Qualification Board and a former Board Member of the Turkish Liver-Pancreas Surgery Association. He has Turkey's first “European Liver-Pancreas Surgery Competence Certificate”. He received this certificate with a first place among doctors from 12 European countries in the exam held in Germany.
