Megan Kasimatis Singleton, JD, MBE, CIP is the Assistant Dean for Human Research Protection and Director of the Human Research Protection Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Ms. Singleton is a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania. She earned her law degree from Temple University and her Masters in Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania. In her current role, Ms. Singleton is responsible for oversight and direction of the staff that support the seven Johns Hopkins Medicine IRBs. In addition to her current role in leading the Johns Hopkins Medicine HRPP, she serves as the director of central IRB activities for the Johns Hopkins/Tufts Trial Innovation Center, leading the charge for innovations in operationalizing single IRB (sIRB) review. In addition to her role as TIC CIRB lead, she is heavily engaged in national efforts to streamline the implementation of sIRB review processes including as co-director of a working group for the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) charged with developing a new standard for IRB reliance, as a member of the Federal Demonstration Partnership [FDP] taskforce on sIRB review and as a member of the SMART IRB Harmonization Steering Committee and sub-working group on Institutional/Local responsibilities. Ms. Singleton is a member of the PRIM&R Workshop/Didactic Planning Subcommittee, is an AAHRPP site visitor and is also currently serves as IRB Fellows Director and faculty for an NIH Fogarty-Funded Grant titled Building Local Capacities in Ethics Training and IRB Review in Guatemala.
