Meekyung Han (M.S.W., Ph.D.) is a Professor in the School of Social Work at San Jose State University. Dr. Han's primary research activities have been devoted to enhancing equity and understanding diversity among understudied and underserved populations in the mental health field. She received the Committee to Enhance Equity and Diversity Award in 2008, acknowledging her contribution to understanding a multiplicity of mental health issues with various cultural groups and her scholarly productivity through publishing widely in leading social work and psychology journals. She also received numerous internal and external research grants. Currently, Dr. Han (PI), together with her colleague from the SSW, is working on the Silberman Fund Faculty Grant to conduct a study entitled “Vicarious Trauma and its impact on Well-being among Family Caregivers of Person with Mental Illness: A Comparative Exploration of self-care practices among Asians and Caucasians”. Further, she works as an affiliated researcher on the Social Work Education Enhancement Program (SWEEP) project which is led by Dr. Alice Hines, CASA, and funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
