Dr. Maxime J. L. Dewulf is a Surgeon at Maastricht UMC+. He received his Doctor of Philosophy from Maastricht University. He has been working at Maastricht UMC+ as a hepatobiliary surgeon since December 2021.
In 2012 he graduated summa cum laude in medicine at the University of Ghent in Belgium. Subsequently, between 2012 and 2018, he trained as a general surgeon at the University Hospital of Ghent. Following his training, he became a fellow at the Maria Middelares Hospital in Ghent with a focus on robotic surgery, and colorectal and abdominal wall surgery (under the supervision of Dr. F. Muysoms).
Subsequently, he worked in the Netherlands for 2 years as a hepatobiliary surgery fellow at the MUMC+ (under the supervision of Prof. Dr. C. Dejong & Prof. Dr. U. Neumann). As a fellow of the European Hernia Society, he also gained additional experience in Edinburgh, Scotland (Prof. A. De Beaux).
Dr. Dewulf treats abnormalities in the pancreas, bile ducts, liver, and spleen. His research interests are Oncological Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, General Surgery, Colorectal Cancer, Hernia, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Abdominal Wall Surgery, and Robotic Surgery.
