Maurizio Centonze Born in Trento in 1965, after graduating from the Liceo Maffei in Riva del Garda, Centonze graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1991 and then obtained the diploma of Specialist in Radiodiagnostics in 1996, both with full marks and honors. His entire career developed in Trentino. Initially in Rovereto, in 1997, then at S. Chiara in Trento under the direction of the then chief physician Francesco Dalla Palma. In 2003, after an internship at the University of Maryland in Baltimore and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota, he began the activity of Cardio-CT for the non-invasive study of the coronaries and of the left atrium-pulmonary veins, becoming the contact person for radiological cardiac imaging for the Cardiology Operative Units of Trento and Rovereto. In 2009 he perfected himself in Belgium on Cardio-MRI, a diagnostic technique that on his return to Italy he used both in Trento and in Rovereto. Thanks to the stimuli of Dr. Dalla Palma, a pioneer of Management in Radiology, in 2010 he published what still remains the only true book on the subject, which is enjoying great critical acclaim. He has also held numerous positions within the Italian Society of Medical Radiology (SIRM), becoming a National Councilor from 2006 to 2010.

He leaves the Trento Healthcare Company, fresh from his reappointment as Director of the Multi-zonal Diagnostic Imaging Unit of Borgo and Cavalese, set up on his proposal in 2014 under the direction of Luciano Flor, to move to the San Pellegrino Hospital in Castiglione delle Stiviere and at other structures in northern Italy, where he took up the challenge of developing cardiac imaging with the latest generation equipment. In the coming days, the Healthcare Company will publish a call for tenders to replace Centonze at the helm of the two departments. Not an easy job considering the chronic shortage of radiologists and above all the experience of this professional.
