Dr. Maurice Nahabedian is currently a Professor of Plastic Surgery and the Vice Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC. Prior to joining the faculty at Georgetown University in 2005, he was on the faculty at Johns Hopkins from 1996 – 2005. His primary clinical and research interests include breast reconstruction, breast reduction, and breast augmentation as well as abdominal wall reconstruction. Dr. Nahabedian has performed over 1,500 breast reconstructions using flaps and over 800 reconstructions using prosthetic devices. He has also performed over 150 abdominal wall reconstructions.
He is the chairman of the three national conferences that include the Santa Fe Breast and Body Contouring Symposium, Dueling Perspectives in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Symposium. He has published over 150 scientific manuscripts, editorials, and discussions, 42 book chapters, and been the principal or co-editor of 6 textbooks. Dr. Nahabedian is also the Breast Section Editor for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and serves on the editorial boards of 4 other breast and plastic surgery journals.
