Maureen A. McCarthy, Ph.D. serves as the Dean of the College of Sciences and Humanities. Prior to arriving at Ball State University Dr. McCarthy served as Faculty Executive Assistant to the President, a unique cabinet-level position in which she advised the university president on faculty-related matters, at Kennesaw State University. She also completed an American Council on Education fellowship, the premier program for emerging senior leaders in higher education, at Montana State University.

Dr. McCarthy earned her Ph.D. in Research and Evaluation from Oklahoma State University and her undergraduate degree in psychology from Missouri State University. She served as a Professor of Psychology at Kennesaw State University and held similar positions at Austin Peay State University. Dr. McCarthy was named the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Distinguished Professor in 2012.

Maureen has also served in a variety of administrative positions at several universities and she served as Associate Executive Director for the American Psychological Association’s office of Pre-College and Undergraduate Programs. While serving as the Associate Executive Director she successfully obtained a National Science Foundation grant for the Online Psychology Laboratory (DUE –0435058). Along with her textbook – Research Methods and Statistics – this project continues to provide important resources for faculty and students worldwide.
