Maureen George, PhD, RN, AE-C, FAAN is an Assistant Professor of Nursing in the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing Department of Family and Community Health and a Senior Fellow in the Center for Health Behavior Research. Dr. George has worked as an advance practice nurse in lung disease since 1986, is a Past-President of the Association of Asthma Educators and Immediate Past Chair of the Allied Health Assembly of the American Academy of Asthma Allergy and Immunology. Dr. George just recently completed a 5 year NIH grant in which she examined patient-primary care provider communication regarding preferences for asthma self-management in a vulnerable adult population. She lectures extensively on issues related to asthma care and education and has published original research and peer-reviewed manuscripts in these areas. She is an Associate Editor, Primary Care Respiratory Medicine and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Asthma.
