Matthias Nees PhD

Dr. Nees has a strong background in functional genomics and translational cancer research. He has developed cell- and tissue-based model systems for chemosensitivity testing and early stage drug discovery for over 10 years. The focus has been on the faithful recapitulation of the complex architecture or histology of solid cancer tissues (carcinomas). Adding biologically relevant extracellular matrix and cellular components of the tumor microenvironment (stromal and immune cells) are the most critical components. Our miniaturized and standardized approach is supplemented by the development of automated image analysis and machine vision tools that allow fast, quantitative phenotypic analyses - and support high content screening.
