Matthias Kern PhD, DMD

Dr. Matthias Kern is Professor and Chairman, Department of Prosthodontics, Propaedeutics and Dental Materials, School of Dentistry, Christian-Albrechts University at Kiel. Born in 1958, he received his undergraduate education in Dentistry from 1980 to 1985 in Freiburg, Germany, graduating from the School of Dentistry in 1985. From 1985 to 1989 he was Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Dentistry, Albert-Ludwigs University, Freiburg. In 1987 he completed his D.M.D. thesis and was later appointed to the following positions: 1989 Academic Lecturer, 1991 Senior Academic Lecturer, and from 1991-1993 Visiting Research Associate Professor, the University of Maryland at Baltimore, USA Grant of the German Society of Research.

Dr. Matthias Kern completed his Ph.D. thesis (Habilitation) in 1995 and became Associate Professor of the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Dentistry, Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg. In 1997 Dr. Kern became Professor and Chairman of the Department of Prosthodontics, Propaedeutics and Dental Materials, School of Dentistry, Christian-Albrechts University at Kiel, Germany.
