Matthew Palmer MBA

Mr. Palmer is a Healthcare Executive with 19 years of experience developing and implementing innovative and value-based solutions in Radiation Oncology with 9 years in the proton therapy field. Mr. Palmer served as the Chief Operating Officer of the MD Anderson Proton Therapy Center – Houston, Ltd. LLP. Mr. Palmer was instrumental in the planning, center design and financing of the first major expansion of an existing proton therapy center. The exit of the managing partner was executed due to the operational and financial success of the center under his leadership. Prior to that, Mr. Palmer was responsible for the center’s strategic plan, finances, day-to-day clinical operations, and business development as the Director of Proton Therapy Development.

He held the position as Medical Dosimetry Supervisor for the proton medical dosimetry team for four years before the start of his administrative career. The combination of his clinical and executive administrative experience gives him a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of a proton therapy center. Mr. Palmer has been extensively involved with proton therapy health policy initiatives over the past 5 years and developed a novel proton therapy coverage pilot with a large employer that demonstrated a lower total cost of care for proton therapy compared to traditional radiation techniques. He has considered an expert in the proton therapy field with 34 peers reviewed publications, 2 book chapters, 21 peer reviewed posters, and numerous national presentations on proton therapy.
