Matthew P. Sweet MD, MS

Matthew P. Sweet, M.D., M.S., is a vascular surgeon at UW Medical Center and a UW Associate Professor of Surgery. He completed his general surgery residency at UC San Francisco and then his vascular surgery fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Dr. Sweet has a particular interest in the treatment of patients with complex thoracic aortic pathology, including thoracoabdominal and aortic arch aneurysms. He runs a Physician Sponsored Investigational Device Exemption study utilizing custom made branched and fenestrated stent-grafts for the endovascular treatment of thoracoabdominal aneurysms. He is also the site lead investigator for industry-sponsored clinical trials of branched endografts designed for the treatment of both thoracoabdominal and aortic arch aneurysms. In addition to these endovascular treatment options, Dr. Sweet performs the open repair of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms.

In addition to the clinical trials described above, Dr. Sweet’s research interests include the morphology and natural history of the thoracoabdominal aneurysm.
