Matthew Ostroff began his career in healthcare as an Emergency Medical Technician on September 11th, 2001 in NYC. He went on to become an NYC 911 Paramedic for six years completing his career and earning the 2006 NYC Paramedic of the Year. From the streets, he stepped directly into the Emergency Department as a registered nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital. It was here that he would discover his true passion, vascular access. Working with the Director of Ultrasound he honed his skills with peripherally guided ultrasound IV access, and later went on to become a PICC line specialist at NY Methodist hospital. Matthew has had the privilege of sharing his vision for vascular access through publications as well as speaking throughout the US, Europe, Canada, and Latin America, and as the Keynote Speaker at the 28th Annual Association for Vascular Access National Meeting.

Matthew is proud to have developed a hybrid multi-disciplinary ultrasound-guided bedside vascular access program, winning the 2016 NJ Healthcare Hero award for Innovation, at St Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey where he works full-time as the lead clinician and Vascular Access Coordinator. Matthew graduated from Drexel University with a Masters of Science and an Acute Care Adult and Geriatric Critical Care Advanced Practice Nurse Certification, receiving the "2016 Outstanding Graduate Award". Finally, Matthew is the recipient of the 2020 Suzanne LaVere Herbst Award in recognition of outstanding contributions to the art and science of vascular access by the Association for Vascular Access, its highest honor.
