Dr. Hutter is a General and Gastrointestinal surgeon, who specializes in minimally invasive surgery, including the stomach, small bowel, gallbladder, and hernias. He also specializes in metabolic and bariatric surgery, also known as weight loss surgery, and is the Director of the MGH Weight Center. He served as the President of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery from 2019 to 2021.
Dr. Hutter grew up in Needham, MA, and went to Harvard University and Harvard Medical School, and then completed General Surgery Residency at Mass. General Hospital. He was The "Super" Chief Resident in Surgery and completed a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has been on the surgical staff since 2002.
