Dr. Matthew Lee trained in medicine at the University of Edinburgh (MBChB 2010). He undertook general professional training in medicine in South East Scotland (2010-2012) and the West of Scotland (2012-2014). He is a Cardiology Specialist Registrar in the West of Scotland Deanery (from 2014) and is currently a Clinical Research Fellow at the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences at the University of Glasgow. He is currently undertaking a PhD (supervised by Professor Mark Petrie, Professor Naveed Sattar, and Professor Patrick Mark) investigating the mechanism of action of empagliflozin in patients with heart failure and type 2 diabetes or prediabetes in the SUGAR-DM-HF randomized controlled trial.
