Matthew Andrew is a Senior Lecturer in Expert Performance and Learning at the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University. He completed his undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science and his doctoral degree in Imitation in adults with autism spectrum disorders at Liverpool John Moores University.

Matthew has been awarded his Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Secondary Physical Education) from Liverpool John Moores University as well as an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy for his teaching activity. He teaches on the Science and Football BSc (Hons), Sport Psychology (Hons), and Sport and Exercise Science BSc (Hons) degree programs.

Matthew’s main research interest is expert performance, with particular emphasis on the influence of feedback provided across professional football (i.e. from coach to player), the developmental activities (e.g. practice) engaged in by expert athletes during childhood. He is also interested in the influence of perceptual-cognitive skills in expert soccer players, as well as the effectiveness of video on perceptual-cognitive skills in soccer.
