Mats Sundgren MSc, PhD

Mats Sundgren, PhD, MSc, is a Principal Scientist in Global Medicine Development, AstraZeneca R&D. He is based in AstraZeneca R&D Molndal Sweden and has more than 29 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry (Discovery, Development, IT, Marketing, and Patents). He is currently working within Biometrics & Information Science function in the area of R&D strategy focusing on implementing strategies and pilots for bridging Health Information Technology with clinical research. He has leaded the EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Association) EHR (Electronic Health Records) task force, and has been the AZ representative in developing the IMI (Innovative Medicine Initiative) Knowledge Management research pillar. Mats is Coordinator for the on-going IMI EHR4CR research project aiming to develop business models for getting sustainable and scalable solutions for re-using health data for clinical research across Europe.
