Masood Nazir MBChB, FRCGP, MSc, DCH

Masood Nazir qualified as a doctor in 1997 and moved into general practice in 2001. As a GP with over 21 years of experience, he is passionate about improving services for patients and feels making a real difference. As well as his General Medical Practitioner role at Hall Green Health in Birmingham, he also hold prominent roles both locally and nationally. He has been able to influence new ways of working; improving efficiency and upholding quality. As the Director for Digital Primary Care, he was instrumental in introducing new ways of empowering and communicating with patients.

As the National Clinical Lead for the Patient Online Programme at NHS England, he managed a team of 7 Digital Clinical Champions and work closely with the BMA, RCGP, HSCIC, Medical Defence Union, Information Commissioners Office and GP Clinical System Clinical Directors. At a local level, he hold the following positions; Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) for the largest CCG in the country and Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for a local record sharing programme which bought together 18 organisations and covered a registered population of 1.9 million patients. Empowering patients and putting them at the heart of service change remains a priority for him. He relish the opportunity to engage directly with patients and to hear and act upon their concerns. Ultimately, making positive change requires delivering and communicating a demonstrable result. It is this determination and commitment to patient improvements which saw him being awarded the prestigious accolade of CCIO of the Year 2016.
