Mason Myers

Mason Myers is a PhD candidate in Biological Chemistry at the University of Michigan Medical School, where he conducts research in the Zhang Lab focused on CRISPR biology and genome engineering. His work explores the anti-phage mechanisms of Type I CRISPR systems and their application in developing next-generation precision gene-editing technologies. By studying CRISPR-Cas3 systems and anti-CRISPR proteins, Myers aims to improve the safety, specificity, and versatility of genome-editing platforms for future therapeutic use. He has contributed to high-impact research published in journals such as Molecular Cell and has received recognition, including an NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein Predoctoral Fellowship for his work on CRISPR-based correction strategies for CFTR mutations.
