Masaomi Nangaku is a professor and head of the division of nephrology and endocrinology, the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Medicine, and a vice president of the University of Tokyo Hospital. He is a president-elect of the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN). He is also an executive councilor of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and a vice president of the Japanese Society of Nephrology (JSN). He has published more than 240 original articles and 80 reviews articles in international journals, and has given 90 invited talks at international academic meetings. He served as a member of Scientific Program Committees of WCN, ISN-NEXUS, ASN, and APCN. He served as a chair of the Scientific Program Committee of APCN 2016. He is currently serving as a chair of the program committee of the World Congress of Nephrology in Australia and as a co-organizer of Keystone Symposia, “Unraveling the Secrets of Kidney Disease” in Canada. He is a member of the editorial board of many prestigious journals, and is currently serving as an associate editor of Kidney International.
