Masaaki Taniguchi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Neurosurgery of the Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine in Kobe, Japan. He received his medical degree from the Osaka University Medical School in 1991. His clinical research interest is on the minimally invasive techniques in neurosurgery, and he is now mainly engaged in endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery for pituitary tumors, craniopharyngiomas, meningiomas, chordomas/chondrosarcomas. He is an executive board member of International Society of the Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery (ISMINS) and the Japanese Society for Hypothalamic and Pituitary Tumors, councilor of the Japanese Society for Skull Base Surgery, technical certification system committee member of the Japanese Society for Neuroendoscopy, board member of the Conference on Neurosurgical Techniques and Tools, review board member of the Neurologia medico-chirurgica (official journal of the Japan Neurosurgical Society).
