Mary Sorci-Thomas Ph.D. is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Clinical Nutrition and an Associate in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) in Milwaukee, WI. She is also a Senior Adjunct Investigator at the Blood Research Institute at the BloodCenter of Wisconsin. Before moving to MCW in 2014.

Dr. Sorci-Thomas was employed at Wake Forest University School of Medicine for 27 yrs. During her tenure at Wake Forest, she was a Project Leader on an NIH-funded Program Project that studied Atherosclerosis and Lipid Metabolism for 20 yrs. The focal points of her research interests have been the structure and function of apo-I and the metabolic role HDL apo-I plays in preventing cholesterol accumulation and inflammation in atherosclerosis and autoimmunity. Recently, her research has turned to the study of SR-BI in HDL cholesterol metabolism and obesity and the role of a novel protein PCPE2, and the role it plays in regulating fat deposition.
