Mary O'kane BSc, MSc

Mary is consultant dietitian in the Obesity Centre at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust supporting patients through their medical and surgical weight loss journeys. She has been a member of national committees including NICE Obesity. She led the development of the BOMSS Nutritional Guidelines and the UK follow-up guidelines for patients undergoing bariatric surgery (Appendices). She is a Fellow of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and was awarded the BDA Elizabeth Washington Award for her work on the follow-up guidelines. She is on IFSO Executive Board and Chair-Elect for IFSO Integrated Health. She looks forward to further raising the profile of nurses and AHPs and helping improve aftercare to patients.
