Dr. Walsh is the current president of the American College of Cardiology and is a strong proponent of team-based care. At St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana she specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of advanced heart failure including the use of nuclear cardiology imaging, advanced medication therapies, ventricular assist devices (VAD) and heart transplant surgery. She has a special interest in women with heart disease and is a current board member of WomenHeart (a national coalition for women with heart disease). She is the medical director of the heart failure and cardiac transplantation program and director of nuclear cardiology at St. Vincent Heart Center and the program director of the St. Vincent Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation Fellowship.

At St. Vincent Cardiovascular Research Institute, Dr. Walsh is an advisory board member and she is actively involved in clinical research in heart failure, nuclear cardiology and system approaches for quality initiatives in the practice setting. Dr. Walsh is a leader, educator and medical author in the field of cardiology, both in Indiana and nationally. She has served as past president of the Indiana affiliate of the American Heart Association and past board member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. She currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Cardiac Failure, is an editorial consultant for JACC: Heart Failure and a reviewer for multiple scientific journals. Dr. Walsh is an author of more than 80 articles and book chapters.
