Mary Lou Hayden RN, MS, FNP-BC, AE-C

Mary Lou Hayden, RN, MS, FNP-BC, AE-C, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and asthma educator for more than 30 years. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Stanford University, Stanford, California (1972) and her master’s degree in Family Health Nurse Clinician program (including Nurse Practitioner studies) from the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York (1978). She has practiced in both the academic center (University of Virginia Asthma and Allergic Diseases Center for 17 years) and in private practice.

She has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and presented at national meetings. An active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, she received the 2004 Allied Health Professionals Recognition Award from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
