Mary Kay Irwin, EdD, have developed an expertise in meeting the needs of diverse learners, and more specifically those of students with a chronic illness. I also specialize in the interface between health and education systems for pediatric patients and students relative to the shared responsibility of mitigating health disparities while maximizing educational opportunities and outcomes.

Mary Kay Irwin, EdD, as the Director of School Health Services at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, I am responsible for leading and assuring the development, implementation, and evaluation of school health services delivered by Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Previously, I worked as an Adjunct Instructor in the School of Education at the University of Cincinnati and for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) as the Manager of the School Intervention Program in the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute, the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Heart Institute. My employment history includes advocacy for adults with disabilities (ARC in Baltimore, Maryland), teaching general and special education, and working as a School Intervention Specialist and Manager for CCHMC.
