Mary-katherine Smith Mcnatt DrPH, MPH, MCHES, CPH

Mary-Katherine McNatt, Chair & Associate Professor, Public Health Department, ATSU College of Graduate Health Studies. Mary-Katherine received her DrPH in Social and Behavioral Sciences from The University of North Texas in Fort Worth and her MPH in Rural Public Health from Texas A&M University in Social and Behavioral Health. She is a master certified health education specialist, is certified in public health, and is a certified online instructor. Prior to academia, she worked in Bioterrorism and Emergency Preparedness as an Epidemiology Pandemic Program Planner for Dallas County Health and Human Services.

She has served as a national spokesperson for the American Heart Association as well as former chairman of the American Heart Association Cultural Health Initiatives Hispanic Tarrant County Task Force. She is a member of the National Rural Health Associations Government Advisory Council and Health Equity Board and serves on the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health Education Committee, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, and Best Practices in Pedagogy subcommittee. She is also a CPH question writer. Her research interests include rural, border health, and Native American health disparities. In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses, learning to wakeboard, and traveling. She resides in Texas with her husband and two young sons.
