Mary Jo Carden serves as Vice President of Government and Pharmacy Affairs at AMCP. Prior to her position at AMCP, she served as Director of Regulatory Affairs at Medco Health Solutions, Inc. and served as an independent consultant. She also served as Director of Government Affairs at the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and practiced community pharmacy. She has also been an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy, and an Associate Adjunct Professor at Shenandoah University, Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy.

Central to her work will be collaborating with agencies such as the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on components of health care reform. In addition, she will focus attention on strengthening the Academy’s relationships with agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

The Academy is making a concerted effort to expand our presence in the states and forging relationships with the State Boards of Pharmacy and the State Pharmacy Associations to ensure that any proposed regulation is designed to improve patient health, and does not inhibit access to the valuable services of pharmacists or needed medications.

“We are delighted to have someone of the caliber of Mary Jo onboard at the Academy,” said AMCP Chief Executive Officer Edith A. Rosato, RPh, IOM. “She brings years of valuable regulatory experience in the field of pharmacy, and has held key roles in the association, industry, and academia sectors.”
