Mary G. Mayorga, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, CCDS, CART is a licensed professional counselor and supervisor in Texas and holds an LPC-MHSP in Tennessee. She is a nationally certified counselor, a certified anger resolution therapist, and has certification as a chemical dependency specialist in Texas, as well as certification in coaching and mindfulness. She is also a licensed vocational nurse.

Dr. Mayorga received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Her research and publications are in several areas, including conflict resolution and communication skills. She has written extensively about wellness and self-care and their impact on stress and burnout, especially within the counseling profession. Dr. Mayorga has previous experience in private practice working with couples and families, adults, and adolescents with substance abuse issues, as well as those dealing with domestic violence. In the last few years, Dr. Mayorga has begun working with women’s issues.

Her publications have appeared in several journals such as the Perspectives in Peer Programs, i-manager’s Journal of Education Psychology, and several state counseling journals. Dr. Mayorga has published chapters and several activities for group counseling. She continues to be passionate about her profession as a counselor and brings her experience into the classroom setting. Aside from publishing her research interests, she has also presented extensively at national and international counseling conferences.

Dr. Mayorga has over 20 years of experience in the field of counseling and has maintained an active practice working with couples, adults, and adolescents. She also has continued to do pro bono work within the community and church as part of her desire to give back to the community.
