Mary Elaine Southard, DNP, RN, APHN-BC, HWNC-BC, DipCHom, is a national and international leader, educator, author, and clinician in integrative health and nurse coaching whose 40-year career has spanned varied healthcare settings and diverse populations. Dr. Southard is a national leader in nurse coaching, motivational interviewing, and patient engagement. She has extensive expertise in telehealth and the nuances of communication skills in this arena. As a psychiatric-mental health nurse educator, her research focuses on using the Omaha System in nurse coaching as a feasible tool to capture data for practice, documentation, and information management. Dr. Southard is adjunct faculty at Marywood University, Scranton, Pennsylvania, and also maintains a private integrative consulting and coaching practice in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
