Mary Chester Wasko MD, MSc

Mary Chester Wasko, MD, MSc, is an accomplished rheumatologist with extensive experience in both academic medicine and community-based clinical practice. She currently serves patients at a Federally Qualified Health Center in Ahoskie, North Carolina, where she is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered rheumatologic care to underserved populations.

Dr. Wasko has been nationally recognized for her leadership and service in rheumatology. In May 2020, she was appointed to the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Rheumatology Specialty Board, reflecting her longstanding contributions to education, certification, and professional standards in the field. Before this appointment, she completed two three-year terms on the ABIM Rheumatology Board Exam Committee.

Previously, Dr. Wasko served as Division Director of Rheumatology at Allegheny Health Network’s West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she played a key role in clinical leadership and training. Her career reflects a strong dedication to advancing rheumatologic care, supporting physician education, and improving access to specialty services across diverse healthcare settings.
