Dr. Mary Beth Brady is an associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is nationally known as an expert in Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and serves as the director of the Intraoperative TEE Program. For years she has been at the forefront of educational initiatives on TEE education. Dr. Brady serves as the Vice-Chair for Education for the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine In this role, she coordinates educational initiatives across the multiple Johns Hopkins campuses. She is also the medical director of the Adult Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Brady received her undergraduate and medical degrees at Georgetown University and completed a residency in anesthesiology and a combined fellowship in cardiac anesthesia and vascular-thoracic anesthesia at Johns Hopkins. She then joined our faculty in ACCM and subsequently accepted the role of Director of Intraoperative TEE in the division of cardiac anesthesiology. Dr. Brady is engaged in TEE education for trainees in cardiac anesthesiology, anesthesiology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, and ultrasonography. More than once, she has won the “Most Innovative Teaching Award for Outstanding Teaching” awarded by the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
