Dr. Martina Ziegenbein, MD, is a board-certified rheumatologist and the founder of Whole Health Rheumatology of Cape Cod, a private rheumatology practice dedicated to patient-centered, evidence-based care. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic and autoimmune diseases, with a particular interest in fibromyalgia and chronic pain management.
Dr. Ziegenbein received her medical degree from P.J. Safarik University in Košice, Slovakia, in 2000. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Marshfield Medical Center in Wisconsin and pursued rheumatology fellowship training at Boston University Medical Center. She later conducted additional lupus research at the Johns Hopkins University Lupus Center.
With more than 17 years of experience in rheumatology, Dr. Ziegenbein is known for her comprehensive, compassionate approach to patient care. Her practice integrates evidence-based clinical medicine with a whole-health philosophy that recognizes the connection between physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
Dr. Ziegenbein’s interest in chronic pain is also shaped by her personal experience with autoimmune and chronic pain conditions, which gives her a unique perspective and empathy when working with patients facing similar challenges.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ziegenbein is passionate about patient education and advocacy. She hosts the podcast “Winning at Fibromyalgia,” where she shares insights and strategies to help people manage chronic pain and improve their quality of life. She has also delivered a TEDx talk titled “How the Brain Has Power Over Our Pain,” exploring the science behind chronic pain and the mind-body connection.
