Dr. Martina Flammer was appointed Vice President, Medical and Regulatory Affairs, Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd. in 2014 and oversees all aspects of the company’s clinical operations, clinical development, medical affairs, regulatory affairs, drug safety and clinical quality management. Dr. Flammer joined Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) in 2011 as Senior Medical Advisor for Medicine and Clinical Development Virology at the company’s global corporate headquarters in Ingelheim, Germany.
Prior to joining BI, she worked for 11 years at Pfizer’s New York headquarters, starting as Medical Director of Clinical Research for phase III/IV cardiovascular programs and was subsequently promoted to Senior Medical Director for key cardiovascular products. Dr. Flammer then held the position of Executive Medical Director and Global Team Leader for a smoking cessation medicine. This was followed by leading medical affairs for the urology portfolio and a transition to a commercial role in the emerging markets business unit focusing on market access needs in emerging markets.
Dr. Flammer received her M.D. degree from the University of Vienna and completed post-doctoral training in Internal Medicine in Austria and in the United States. In 2010 she obtained her MBA degree with three specializations in leadership, finance and global business from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
