Martin Wiseman

Professor Martin Wiseman is a Medical and Scientific Adviser at the World Cancer Research Fund International and a visiting Professor in human nutrition at Southampton University. He was project director for the 2007 WCRF/AICR expert report Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity, and the Prevention of Cancer: a Global Perspective, and its 2009 companion Policy and Action for Cancer Prevention, and is currently a consultant to the Continuous Update Project. From 1986 to1999 he was Head of the Nutrition Unit at the Department of Health, where his primary responsibility was in nutrition science, nutrition surveys, and advising on and implementing nutrition policy. He qualified in medicine from Guy's Hospital in London and continues clinical activities in an NHS diabetes clinic. He is a Trustee of the Association for Nutrition and the British Nutrition Foundation, a member of the Royal College of Physicians Nutrition Committee, and was Chair of the Management Team of the Intercollegiate Group on Nutrition of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges until 2016. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal College of Pathologists, and the Association for Nutrition.
