Martin Schwarzer is the Head of the scientific research team at the Institute of Microbiology, CAS, Hradec Kralove, Czechia. He investigates the effect of bacteria on the growth of young mammals. With his scientific team, they were the first to show that gut bacteria are essential for optimal growth at an early age. It is an important discovery that contributes to understanding the microbiome's influence on the growth of mammals and can make a fundamental contribution to solving malnutrition in children. He received a Neuron Impuls grant for his research in 2017, which he finished by publishing the results in the journal Science. Martin Schwarzer works at the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Nové Hrádek.
