Martin Misfeld went to the Medical School, the University of Hamburg from 1986 to 1993. He completed his residency at the Department of Cardio-Thoracic Vascular Surgery, University of Luebeck, Germany. Martin was a registrar and research fellow at Harefield Hospital, England, under the supervision of Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub from 1998 to 1999. He received his Ph.D. from the Imperial College of Science, Technology, and Medicine, the University of London in 2004. Martin was an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney in 2008 and a Professor of Cardiac Surgery since 2010.
Martin Misfeld is currently, Co-Director, of the University Clinic of Cardiac Surgery, Heart Center Leipzig, Leipzig, Germany, and Visiting Professor, at the University of Sydney, Australia. His surgical focus is on minimally invasive cardiac surgery, valve reconstruction and preserving techniques, novel aortic valve substitutes, aortic surgery, Maze procedures, “anaortic” complete arterial OPCAB techniques, and complex cases.
