Since July 2011 he has been head of the department and trainer of the Heart Diseases department at the LUMC. Under his supervision, all diagnostics and treatments are carried out, using the latest techniques in the field of interventional cardiology, such as implanting and repairing one of the heart valves through catheter intervention. In addition, under his leadership, the development of the regional care pathways in which the MISSION! acute infarction started in 2004, is one of the most successful healthcare innovations in cardiology.

Important topics for the coming years are keeping healthcare affordable and improving quality and safety. The starting point is that the care must be safe, effective and transparent. In other words, the patient who is entrusted to our care must be able to trust that we are clear about our results, do our utmost to provide safe care and that what we do is effective!
