Martin J. Van Den Bent MD, PhD

Martin J. van den Bent has been Head of the Neuro-Oncology Unit at the Erasmus MC Cancer Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, since 1992, after graduating with an MD and training as a neurologist. In 2007 he became Professor of Neuro-Oncology at the Erasmus University. Professor van den Bent has been the Principle Investigator on many international multicenter phases 2 and 3 trials on both high- and low-grade glial tumors. From 2003 to 2009 he was the chair of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Brain Tumor Group and has been President of the European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO) since 2018.

He serves on American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) committees, including a committee on guidelines for molecular diagnostics in gliomas. He has written many chapters in textbooks on neuro-oncology and is one of the coordinating members of the Response Assessment in Neuro-Oncology (RANO) group.
