Professor Bobrow is formerly professor of medical genetics at the Cambridge University Department of Medical Genetics. Previous posts held include: professor of medical genetics at the University
of Amsterdam, Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals, and University of Cambridge (1995–2005), director of SE Thames Regional Genetics Service and East Anglian Regional Genetics Service. His research interests are human chromosomes identification, gene mapping, and genetic diagnostics. Previous advisory positions held include: member of MRC Council; deputy chairman of the Wellcome Trust; Chairman of
Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment and Unrelated Living Transplant Regulating Authority; Deputy Chairman of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics and member of the Human Genetics Advisory Commission and the NHS Central R&D Committee. He served as non-executive director of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and chairman, Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
