Dr. Samuels is a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. For eleven years prior to assuming the position at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, he served as Chief of Neurology at the Brockton-West Roxbury VA Medical Center. Dr. Samuels is an internationally renowned teacher-clinician, a premier diagnostician, and a leading authority on the relationships between neurology and general medicine.

His major fields of expertise include neuro-cardiology, neuro-hematology, neuro-gastroenterology, neuro-hepatology, neuro-nephrology, and the neurologic aspects of organ transplantation. He has been the editor of several neurology textbooks, developed an instructional video on clinical neurology for practicing physicians, and authored numerous articles and book chapters.

He obtained his doctorate from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine. Dr. Samuels completed an internship, residency, and chief residency in Internal Medicine at Boston City Hospital and a Neurology Residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Samuels is board certified in both Neurology and Internal Medicine, is a Fellow in the American Academy of Neurology and the American College of Physicians. He is also a member of the American Neurologic Association.
