Marta Cortés Canteli (Madrid, 1976) is a Miguel Servet researcher at the National Centre for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC). With a PhD in Biochemistry from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), between 2008 and 2014 she researched at Rockefeller University (USA) how thrombosis and fibrinolysis are altered in Alzheimer's disease, causing clots to persist longer. This discovery is one of the milestones of her career and represented a paradigm shift in the understanding of the disease. In 2015 she returned to Spain to join the CNIC to investigate the brain-heart nexus in Alzheimer's disease.
