Marloes Faut was born on March 10, 1988 in Zierikzee. She grew up with her brother Roel and sister Manja as the middle of three children of Eric Faut and Vicky Faut-Albers. After obtaining her VWO diploma at the Pontes Pieter Zeeman in Zierikzee, she studied medicine at the University of Maastricht (2006-2012). In the final year of her studies, she did her semi-doctoral internship at the Department of Transplant surgery at Maastricht UMC+ under the supervision of prof. dr. L.W.E. from Heurn. Her research involved the differences in donation protocols of donation in the entire Eurotransplant region after an irreversible circulatory arrest. After her studies, Marloes worked for a year as an ANIOS surgeon at St. Elisabeth Hospital in Willemstad, Curacao. Subsequently, she became ANIOS surgery at the University Medical Center Groningen. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. B.L. van Leeuwen, she started in September 2014 as a medical researcher at Surgical Oncology, to conduct research on the area of ​​metastatic melanoma. The results of this Ph.D. trajectory have resulted in this thesis. In September 2016 she started her training as a surgeon. Currently, she is working at the surgery department of Medical Center Leeuwarden (trainer: Drs. M. Emous).
