Mark Wright is presently Head Real-World Clinical Studies at CPRD, part of the UK Medicines Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, having previously held Clinical R&D positions in pharma companies of various sizes and nationality and has also founded a clinical science service delivery company. CPRD is responsible for a primary-care Electronic Healthcare Record database that holds cradle-to-grave data on over 30 million patients and is used globally for healthcare research generating over 8000 peer-reviewed papers during its 30 year history. Whilst observational research for governance reasons has fiercely protected patient anonymity more recently studies in the newer interventional space have required an engagement with patients.
