Mark T. Keegan, MD, MSc, is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Consultant in the Division of Intensive Care and Respiratory Care within the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Mayo Clinic. He is an internationally recognized anesthesiologist-intensivist with expertise in critical care medicine, perioperative management of complex surgical patients, and liver transplantation.

Dr. Keegan earned his medical degree with honors from Trinity College Dublin and completed residency training in Internal Medicine and Anesthesiology, followed by a fellowship in Critical Care Anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic. He later obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Research from Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

His clinical interests focus on the critical care of vascular, thoracic, hematology, and transplant patients, as well as anesthesia for liver transplantation. His research examines prognostic scoring systems in intensive care units, outcomes assessment for critically ill patients, resource utilization in critical care, and innovative approaches to physician certification and competency assessment.

Dr. Keegan is board-certified in both Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He has received numerous honors, including the Critical Care Educator Hall of Fame Award, Mayo Critical Care Master Clinician Award, and multiple Teacher and Clinician of the Year recognitions.
