Mark P. Hamlin, MD, MS is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. After completing his Anesthesiology Residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center and Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins he went to Fletcher Allen Hospital at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He is Director of Anesthesia Critical Care and Medical Director of Respiratory Care Services. Beyond the ICU setting, he is a General and Cardiac Anesthesiologist. His interest in the application of Ultrasound in Anesthesia and Critical Care began in residency when he did senior electives with the Cardiology department to transthoracic and transesophageal echo, and he passed the first available Perioperative Transesophageal Echo examination in 1998. He recertified with the National Board of Echocardiography’s Advanced PTEeXAM in 2009
