Dr. Mark R. Hazebroek was born in Eindhoven in 1985. He completed his master's degree in medicine in 2010, after a scientific and clinical internship in cardiology in his last year of medicine.
After obtaining his diploma, he started his clinical doctoral research into idiopathic cardiomyopathies at the research group of Prof. Dr. S. Heymans in Maastricht. Expanding the Maastricht Cardiomyopathy Registry and including and conducting (randomized) studies to test the effectiveness of certain treatments are the spearheads here.
He is also involved in a number of European Projects (FP-7) such as EU-MASCARA and HOMAGE, focusing on biomarkers for (the early detection of) heart failure. His research interests are Cardiology, Heart Failure, Cardiomyopathy, Myocarditis, Genetics, Cardiovascular Diseases, Medicine, Angioplasty, and Atrial Fibrillation.
