Mark is currently Ochsner Health System’s Vice President of Vendor Management. Mark is responsible for the strategic vision, long term planning, direction and overall accountability for system-wide functions; communicates and interprets organizational and departmental mission goals and objectives to all areas of responsibility; and provides leadership and direction in the planning, implementation, and evaluation activities of all areas of responsibility.
Upon completion of his BS in Exercise Physiology at UC Davis, Mark served as the co-administrator at an Alzheimer’s residential care facility for approximately one year, and then went on to a staff supervisor role in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the UC Davis Medical Center. Mark entered graduate school at Tulane University in 1996, and upon completion of his MHA in 1998 he proceeded on to an administrative fellowship at Henry Ford Health System. Mark joined Ochsner in January of 2000 and initially held leadership responsibilities for the Department of Renal Services. In January of 2002 Mark accepted the role as Director over Cardiovascular Services and served for approximately four years. Since his time with the cardiovascular service line, Mark has served as the AVP position over Surgical and Perioperative Services, the VP of Operations (which included responsibility over Surgical and Perioperative Services, Women’s Services, Cardiovascular Services, Radiology Anesthesia, and Transplant Services).
Prior to Mark’s new role as the Vice President of Vendor Services, he served as the COO of Ochsner’s flagship hospital. Mark was responsible for the operational management and strategic development of Ochsner Medical Center (500+ bed hospital), as well as the ‘hospital-based’ physician practices of the Department of Anesthesia, the Department of Emergency Medicine, the Department of Radiology, and the Department of Pathology. In total, all areas are comprised of approximately 1,200 FTEs and over 120 physicians. Mark had six direct reports, and accountability for the Southshore Division’s annual operating income of $225M.
