Mark-bram Bouman MD, PhD, FESSM

Dr. Mark-Bram Bouman, MD, PhD, FESSM, is head of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Hand Surgery, and a board member of the Gender Dysphoria Expertise Center at UMC Amsterdam. prof. Dr. Bouman has been performing gender surgical procedures since 2003 and is very involved in developments in gender care. Dr. Bouman has a great deal of experience and knowledge of transgender people and uses an accessible approach in which expectations are expressed and mutual respect is pursued.

In 2017, Dr. Bouman completed his PhD research with exclusive vaginoplasty and in particular intestinal vaginoplasty as a spearhead. Together with a specialized laparoscopic surgeon, he introduced Total Laparoscopic Sigmoid Vaginoplasty as a surgical concept.

Dr. Bouman is very experienced in performing breast augmentations and mastectomies for transgender people. He performed hundreds of double-sided mastectomies in recent years.
